About the performance

In which language will the play be performed?
Languages spoken in the play: Valais German (written scene description available in German, English and French)

Will the presentation take place in all weather conditions?
Basically, yes. If the weather is too bad to hold a performance, this will be announced on the website by midday (or 11.00 a.m. on Sundays). In this case, tickets can be rebooked for another performance. Tickets will not be refunded.

How long does the performance last, and is there an interval?
The performance last 90 minutes. There is no interval.

From what age is the play suitable?
The play is suitable for children from 8 years of age.

Are sound, photo and film recordings allowed?
For copyright reasons, sound, photo and film recordings are not permitted during the performance.

Are there merchandise articles?
If merchandise articles are available, this will be announced on this website under "Merchandise".

Tickets

How can I obtain tickets?
You will find information about all ordering options and ticket offices here.

What is the cheapest booking variant?
We recommend ordering your tickets on-line on www.freilichtspiele-zermatt.ch.

Are there reductions for groups?
You can find attractive group discounts here.

Do children, young people, apprentices, students or senior citizens benefit from a special price?
Children benefit from reduced admission prices. You can find the prices here. Children require their own ticket, and may not be taken on the knee of an adult.

If you arrive as part of a large group, however, you can benefit from a group discount. Information about this is available here.

Can I exchange or return my tickets?
When completing a ticket order, you have the option of taking out a ticket insurance with ALLIANZ at a cost of CHF 5.00 per ticket. If you have taken this insurance, you will be refunded the full cost of the ticket in case of unforeseen events, such as illness, accidents or a car breakdown on the way to the event. You can find more information about this in our Terms and Conditions. Tickets without insurance can be neither exchanged nor refunded.

Riffelberg venue

How do I get from Zermatt to the venue?
The play will be performed at the Riffelberg station on the Gornergrat. The Gornergrat Bahn mountain railway travels from Zermatt to Riffelberg according to the published timetable. To reach the theatre, please leave the train at Riffelberg Station. It is then only one minute by foot to the grandstand.

Clothing
The grandstand is not covered, and is located in a high alpine terrain at an altitude of 2,500 metres above sea level. Please bring the corresponding warm clothing with you. Sunglasses are also recommended in case of fine weather, as well as suitable sun protection for the matinee performances.

Is the venue wheelchair-accessible?
The performance venue on the Riffelberg and the grandstand are wheelchair-accessible.

Are there toilets for persons with a disability?
There is one in the Restaurant Riffelhaus.

When is the performance area open?
The area around the venue is accessible during the whole day. The grandstand will be opened 30 minutes before the start of the performance.

From when is the day/evening box office open?
Tickets can be obtained during the day from the office of Zermatt Tourism.
Information and ticket office in Zermatt: Tel. 027 527 01 50 (open on each performance day from 10.00 a.m. – 8.00 p.m.) in the departure hall of the Gornergrat Bahn mountain railway.

Are there refreshment facilities at the venue?
The Restaurant Riffelhaus is open on each day. There will also be a small Theatre Take-away and drinks.

Can I bring my dog, or my pet to the performance?
We're afraid not. For safety reasons, pets are not permitted in the performance area during the performance.
